I went birding today to several locations. At Central Park in Huntington Beach not to much was seen. There are alot of Yellow-rumped warblers in variuos plumages. some were in very dull pllumage, while others were nearly in birding plumage. I went to the Sea and Sage Picnic yesterday. they had their highest toal yet. some 255 people showed up. They had bar-b-que hotdogs and chicken. I had the pleasure to escort Winston and Beatrice Dang from Virginia for 3 hours today. We went the San Juoquin Marshes and Upper Newport Bay. The marshes were very productive, highlights included 4 Wilson’s Phalaropes, 1 Virginia Rail, 1 Osprey, 2 Black Skimmers, 2 Wood Ducks. We also had 2 baby Killdeer and a Whimbrel. today i went to san joaquin marsh and the back bay to get some habitat shots for the website. i heard a bell’s vireo and some least terns were feeding young but otherwise it was slow. i was their mid-day. the back bay was very quiet nothing to report there

I was at Bolsa Chica for about an hour today (2:00-3:00) and saw the Sooty Tern in the regular place and also a Reddish Egret where the dike turns to the left after you cross the boardwalk.

I went to the muth nature center today i found a probable  rough-winged swallow nest,  in the bank of delhpi channel also saw a say’s phoebe

Went to Bolsa Chica today and found the Sooty Tern at about 11:30am. It was on the tern island nest to the wooden structure on the island.

Yestyerday I worked the nature center in the afternoon. No one showed up in the morning, so the rangers were glad to see me. We had about 50 people come through
